Wage Claim Clinic / Día de consulta para reclamos salariales

3rd Wednesday of each month from 4-7 PM at Maxwell Street Legal Clinic

The free, bilingual Wage Claim Clinic, which is part of Kentucky Equal Justice Center’s workers’ rights initiative, is designed to assist low-income workers who have been financially exploited by their employers. This includes those who:

• have not been compensated for overtime hours
• receive less than minimum wage
• have not been paid for any of their work
• have not received the pay promised to them by their employers

Anyone is welcome to walk in between the hours of 4 and 7 PM. We help clients draft demand letters for their unpaid wages. If their employers refuse to settle, we help them submit a claim with the Labor Cabinet. We also provide advice and referrals for more complicated cases (discrimination, workers' compensation, small claims court, etc).

All participants should bring with them any documents that have to do with employment:
• name and address of employer (or address of business and name of supervisor)
• schedule of hours worked
• any check stubs or payment records
• written contracts or employment manuals
• for construction workers: addresses of every site where work was done

Everyone who comes to the clinic will receive some basic information about workers' rights and how to protect themselves in the future.

Please contact Daniel Welsh with any questions about the Wage Claim Clinic schedule at

Tax Help / Ayuda con los impuestos

During Tax Season, at the Village Branch Library, we help with a weekly bilingual tax preparation program in which clients may come and have their returns prepared for free. Clients interested may dial 2-1-1 to make an appointment. "Ayuda con los Impuestos" is on Mondays, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

We also can help immigrant clients file for an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) for themselves or for their family members. Click below for useful explanations of the ITIN in Spanish.
