We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Charles Bates as the new Program Director of Maxwell Street Legal Clinic. Charles brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service, making him a perfect fit for this role.
A native of Campbellsville, KY, Charles began his academic journey at Campbellsville University, where he earned a degree in Communications with a Theater emphasis. He then pursued his legal education at Roger Williams University School of Law in picturesque Bristol, RI. During his time at Roger Williams, Charles honed his skills in the RWU Criminal Defense Clinic, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to advocacy.
After being admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association in 2005, Charles spent over a decade with the Department of Public Advocacy, where he worked tirelessly on behalf of indigent clients. His dedication to serving those in need led him to join Maxwell Street Legal Clinic as an Immigration Attorney in March 2024.
Now, as Program Director, Charles is poised to lead our clinic with the same passion and dedication that has marked his entire career. We are excited to see the positive impact he will undoubtedly have on our team and the community we serve. Please join us in welcoming Charles Bates to his new role!
